On Saturday, September 28th, the Point Arena Lighthouse Keepers, Inc. held a fundraiser dinner and auction to help kick off the celebrations of the Light Station’s 150-year anniversary and it was a great success!
It was September of 1869 when work first began on the Point Arena Light Station, breaking ground for this important location on the Mendocino Coast and setting the stage for all the rich history to come. This memorable occasion was celebrated with a fundraiser dinner and silent auction at the Gualala Community Center. The community came together to celebrate 150 years of the light shining at the Point Arena Light Station and to support our mission to keep the lighthouse and grounds open to the public for many years to come. We hope to see everyone again soon for a series of celebrations in 2020 to commemorate the first tower being built in 1870!
